Exploring Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens In Akron


The Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens is a historic estate in Akron, Ohio. The estate was built between 1912 and 1915 by F.A. Seiberling, co-founder of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. The Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens features a 65-room Tudor Revival manor house, 24 formal gardens, and 7 acres of green space. The estate is home to a variety of plant life, including over 600 varieties of roses. The gardens also feature a pond, a waterfall, and a 25-foot-tall (7.6 m) sundial.

Architect Charles Sumner Fox designed the manor house at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens. The exterior of the house is made of limestone, while the interior features oak woodwork and stained glass windows. The house is furnished with antiques and tapestries and includes a music room, a library, and a breakfast room.


The Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens is open to the public for tours and events. Tours of the manor house and tours of the gardens are available. The estate also hosts various events throughout the year, including concerts, weddings, and holidays.
